Project Head Chef

We are seeking a highly experienced Project Head Chef specialising in authentic Chinese cuisine to manage kitchen operations at our NamWater WPPEP project site in Oshakati, Namibia. We are looking for a dedicated culinary professional with extensive experience preparing Sichuan and Cantonese dishes, managing kitchen logistics and maintaining high food safety standards. The successful candidate will prepare meals for project staff, oversee food preparation and ensure efficient daily kitchen operations. Responsibilities • Prepare daily breakfast, lunch and dinner for project staff, specialising in authentic Chinese cuisine. • Prepare traditional Chinese pastries and wheat-based foods, including steamed buns (Baozi), deep-fried dough sticks (Youtiao), Mantou and noodles. • Manage daily kitchen operations and coordinate kitchen logistics. • Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness, hygiene and organisation. • Enforce food safety standards, including ingredient freshness, proper utensil sterilisation and sanitary food preparation. • Design and periodically update weekly menus based on staff dietary preferences and nutritional requirements. • Manage kitchen inventory, stock counts and procurement planning for ingredients and supplies. • Support efficient meal preparation and kitchen service throughout project operations. Requirements • Minimum 15 years of professional experience as a Chinese cuisine chef. • Proficiency in both Sichuan and Cantonese cuisines. • Ability to prepare authentic regional Chinese dishes and traditional wheat-based foods. • Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food hygiene and ingredient management. • Highly responsible, dedicated and hardworking attitude. • Strong passion for culinary work and excellent teamwork skills. • Availability to work Monday to Saturday from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM and a half-day on Sunday, as advertised.
