Seventy7 Consulting is seeking a skilled and hands-on Mechanical & Electrical Crane Maintenance Technician to join its field operations team in Swakopmund. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing cranes, lifting equipment, and associated systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
This role is ideal for a technically skilled professional who enjoys working in operational and industrial environments rather than office-based settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance & Repairs:
• Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on overhead cranes, jib cranes, and lifting equipment.
• Carry out repairs on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Inspect and maintain motors, gearboxes, brakes, wire ropes, and control systems.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose faults using technical knowledge and diagnostic tools.
• Replace and repair defective components safely and efficiently.
• Perform preventative maintenance on industrial machinery and power tools.
• Record completed work in maintenance management systems.
• Respond to technical breakdowns and operational maintenance issues.
Inspections & Compliance:
• Conduct routine inspections of lifting equipment and rigging gear.
• Assist with load testing and safety inspections.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company procedures, and industry standards.
Installation & Commissioning:
• Assist with installation, assembly, and commissioning of cranes and lifting equipment.
• Support upgrades and modifications to existing systems.
Technical Support & Documentation:
• Interpret technical drawings, manuals, and electrical schematics.
• Maintain accurate maintenance reports and service records.
• Provide technical support to clients and operational teams.
• Contribute to equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
Minimum Requirements:
• Trade Certificate in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
• Proven Mechanical or Electrical Trade Certificate.
• Rigging Certificate will be advantageous.
• Crane competency certificates (Overhead Cranes, Jib and Gantry Cranes) preferred.
• Experience in high-volume manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Valid Driver’s License (Code B or higher).
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of lifting industry safety regulations and compliance requirements.
• Willingness to work flexible hours and attend breakdown call-outs when required.
