English Teacher – IGCSE

The International School of Walvis Bay is recruiting an experienced English Teacher to join its Cambridge International team from January 2027. The successful candidate will primarily teach Cambridge English First Language at IGCSE level, with the ability to teach AS Level considered an advantage. The teacher will support learners in developing strong reading, writing, analytical and communication abilities while preparing them for Cambridge examinations. Key Responsibilities * Teach Cambridge English First Language at IGCSE level. * Teach AS Level where suitably qualified and experienced. * Develop students’ reading and writing abilities. * Encourage analytical thinking and confident communication. * Prepare learners for Cambridge examinations. * Develop critical-thinking and analytical-writing skills. * Contribute to curriculum planning. * Participate in learner assessments. * Support extracurricular language activities. * Provide academic support and mentorship to senior learners. * Monitor and assess student progress. * Prepare reports on learner performance. * Collaborate with colleagues on cross-curricular learning. * Participate in enrichment and extracurricular initiatives. * Maintain high professional teaching standards. Minimum Requirements * Recognised Bachelor of Education degree in English, English Literature, Linguistics, Education or a related field; or * Bachelor’s degree with English as a major plus a Teaching Diploma or equivalent teaching qualification. * Minimum 2 years’ English teaching experience at IGCSE or AS Level. * Cambridge experience preferred. * Strong classroom-management skills. * Strong communication skills. * Excellent spoken and written English. * Professional commitment to academic excellence and learner development.
