Skipper II / Class 6 Deck Officer

B-4 Engineering and Diving is recruiting a structured and proactive Skipper II / Class 6 Deck Officer for its maritime operations in Walvis Bay. The position involves responsibility for safe vessel operation, pre-departure inspections, routine vessel inspections, crew safety and communication with management, harbour authorities and other vessels. The successful candidate must have the required maritime qualifications and demonstrate strong attention to detail, safety awareness and compliance with marine operating requirements. Key Responsibilities * Safely operate the vessel in compliance with maritime regulations and company procedures. * Conduct pre-departure inspections. * Ensure the vessel is seaworthy before operations. * Ensure crew members comply with safety procedures. * Ensure compliance during emergency drills. * Monitor fuel, water and essential supplies. * Perform routine vessel inspections. * Report maintenance requirements. * Maintain communication with management. * Communicate with harbour authorities. * Communicate with other vessels using VHF radio. * Enforce company policies. * Enforce safety and PPE requirements. * Enforce company alcohol and drug requirements. Minimum Requirements * Valid Skipper II / Class 6 Deck Officer qualification. * Valid Seaman’s Book. * Advanced Basic Safety. * CRAN Radio Operator’s Certificate. * Valid Seaman’s Medical Certificate. * Driver’s licence advantageous. * Matric Certificate. * Police Clearance Certificate. * Strong attention to detail. * Strong safety awareness.
