Freddie Fish Processors (Pty) Ltd is recruiting an Assistant Accountant in Walvis Bay, Namibia. Reporting to the Financial Accountant, the successful candidate will support accounts receivable, customer-account administration, bank reconciliations, cashbook processing and inventory control within the company's fishing and processing operations.
This accounting opportunity requires a detail-oriented and numerically strong professional with practical experience in debtor management, stock and inventory control, reconciliations and financial record keeping. The successful candidate will help maintain accurate financial and inventory records while supporting effective financial controls across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and issue customer invoices accurately and on time
- Maintain accurate customer accounts and debtor records
- Monitor outstanding customer accounts and follow up on overdue payments
- Reconcile customer accounts and investigate account discrepancies
- Perform cashbook processing and maintain accurate financial records
- Manage bank reconciliations and petty-cash controls and reconciliations
- Prepare monthly debtor age-analysis reports
- Monitor and control inventory levels to support accurate stock records
- Process stock receipts, stock issues, transfers and adjustments
- Reconcile physical stock counts against system inventory records
- Investigate and report stock and inventory variances
- Conduct regular stock counts and participate in annual stocktakes
- Support accurate financial reporting and accounting controls
- Maintain a high level of accuracy, integrity and attention to detail
Qualifications & Experience:
- Namibian citizenship
- Grade 12/NSSC or equivalent with Accounting as a major subject
- Diploma in Accounting is an added advantage
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in accounts receivable, stock or inventory control and bank reconciliations
- Experience in the fishing industry is an added advantage
- Sound understanding of accounting principles and inventory management
- Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and Pastel
- Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask effectively
- High level of accuracy, integrity and attention to detail
