Motorman

B-4 Engineering and Diving is seeking an experienced and proactive Motorman to support its marine operations in Walvis Bay, Namibia. The position involves assisting with the operation, inspection and maintenance of vessel engines and machinery. The successful candidate will work within the engine room environment, monitor machinery and fluid levels, perform preventative maintenance and assist with mechanical repairs and troubleshooting. This role requires extensive marine experience, knowledge of Caterpillar motors, engine-room safety awareness and the ability to maintain vessel machinery in safe and efficient operating condition. Key Responsibilities * Assist with the operation and monitoring of vessel engines and machinery. * Conduct routine engine-room inspections. * Monitor fuel levels. * Monitor oil, coolant and other machinery fluid levels. * Perform routine preventative maintenance. * Carry out lubrication and cleaning of machinery. * Assist with engine repairs. * Assist with mechanical troubleshooting. * Identify and report mechanical defects promptly. * Report machinery and equipment failures. * Maintain engine-room cleanliness and good housekeeping standards. * Operate pumps, compressors, generators and auxiliary equipment as required. * Maintain engine-room logs. * Maintain relevant maintenance records. * Ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently. * Assist during emergencies. * Participate in emergency drills. * Follow company safety procedures. * Comply with applicable environmental requirements. Minimum Requirements * Grade 4 Motorman qualification. * Knowledge of Caterpillar motors. * Valid driver’s licence. * Matric Certificate. * Police Clearance Certificate. * Minimum 10 years of experience. * Valid Seaman’s Medical Certificate. * Basic Safety Training. * Preventative-maintenance knowledge. * Understanding of engine-room safety procedures. * Good problem-solving skills. * Good troubleshooting skills.
