The United States Peace Corps Namibia is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse to serve as a Medical Assistant (MA) based in Windhoek. The Medical Assistant will provide both administrative and clinical support to the Health Unit while working under the supervision of Peace Corps Medical Officers (PCMOs).
The role includes supporting Peace Corps Volunteers with medical coordination, scheduling appointments, handling clinical support services, maintaining medical inventory, processing documentation, assisting with laboratory follow-ups, and ensuring smooth daily operations within the Health Unit.
The successful candidate will also assist with medical supply management, maintain accurate records in PCMEdics systems, support healthcare logistics, and ensure compliance with Peace Corps health, safety, and confidentiality procedures. This position requires a highly organized individual with strong communication skills, healthcare experience, and the ability to work independently in a professional medical environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide clinical and administrative support to PCMOs
* Assist with patient coordination and appointment scheduling
* Support clinical procedures including vital signs, immunizations, and laboratory tasks under supervision
* Manage medical inventory and supply records
* Maintain medical databases and documentation systems
* Coordinate medical billing and filing processes
* Handle confidential medical information professionally
* Assist with procurement and organization of medical supplies
* Support health unit operations and reporting functions
* Comply with Peace Corps safety, ethics, and confidentiality standards
Requirements:
* Nursing school qualification and valid registered clinical license/diploma
* Minimum 2 years related healthcare experience
* Strong administrative and organizational skills
* Fluent in English
* Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
* Valid Namibian driver’s license
* Good interpersonal and communication skills
* Experience in health facility administration and inventory control is an advantage
