Erongomed Health Distributors (Pty) Ltd is seeking a Biomedical Engineer to join its team in Windhoek, Namibia. The role combines biomedical engineering, medical equipment installation and servicing, technical customer support, preventive maintenance, inventory management and sales-related responsibilities. The successful candidate will work with healthcare and medical technology including diagnostic, imaging, monitoring, life-support and critical-care equipment while supporting customers across Namibia.
Responsibilities:
- Install, test, service and maintain medical equipment including X-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, infusion pumps, ventilators, defibrillators, dialysis equipment and anaesthesia machines
- Troubleshoot technical faults, resolve equipment problems and ensure medical devices remain operational
- Perform preventive maintenance according to manufacturer recommendations
- Maintain accurate service records, technical reports and medical equipment inventory information
- Provide user training and technical support to healthcare stakeholders and equipment users
- Ensure workshop tools, testing equipment and safety standards are properly maintained
- Prepare quotations and process technical service requests
- Develop and maintain professional customer relationships
- Present, promote and sell medical products to existing and prospective customers
- Meet agreed sales targets and report on activities and results
- Ensure compliance with applicable company policies, procedures and safety regulations
- Observe required safety measures and report hazardous conditions
- Document service and installation work through reports, logs and proper record keeping
- Maintain customer confidentiality and promote customer confidence
- Participate in training and educational opportunities to maintain current technical and product knowledge
- Plan and schedule sales activities, identify prospective customers and develop action plans
- Submit activity and results reports to management
- Develop and implement sales activities to support stock movement and business objectives
- Maintain an inventory of medical equipment installed in public and private healthcare facilities
- Take responsibility for the safe and correct use of workshop equipment and technical resources
Requirements:
- Degree in Biomedical Engineering or Clinical Engineering is essential
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of Namibia (HPCNA), or ability to register
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a hospital or clinical environment is preferred
- Basic knowledge of patient monitoring, life-support equipment, medical imaging systems and critical-care equipment
- Regional knowledge and ability to establish and maintain relationships with clinical staff
- Ability to quickly develop in-depth knowledge of applicable medical products and markets
- Basic networking and IT knowledge for connected medical devices
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Sales experience will be an added advantage
- Flexibility to work late or unscheduled hours when required
- Willingness to travel to various regions within Namibia, with expected travel representing approximately 50% to 60% of normal working hours
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver's licence and own reliable vehicle are essential
