Shapumba & Associates Incorporated is seeking a Candidate Legal Practitioner to join its legal practice in Windhoek, Namibia. This position provides an opportunity for an aspiring legal practitioner to gain practical legal experience, develop professional legal skills and work alongside experienced practitioners while completing the practical requirements of legal training and professional development. The Candidate Legal Practitioner will assist with legal research, drafting, case preparation, client matters and general legal administration under the supervision and guidance of admitted legal practitioners. The position is suited to a motivated law graduate who demonstrates strong analytical ability, professional discipline, attention to detail and a genuine commitment to developing a career in legal practice. Key Responsibilities: - Conduct legal research on legislation, case law, regulations and other legal authorities - Assist legal practitioners with analysis of legal issues and preparation of client matters - Draft legal correspondence, memoranda, notices, pleadings and other legal documents under supervision - Assist with preparation of contracts, agreements and supporting legal documentation - Support litigation preparation and organisation of case files - Compile and organise evidence, supporting documents and legal authorities - Assist with preparation for court proceedings, consultations and other legal engagements - Attend client consultations where appropriate and assist with recording instructions and relevant information - Maintain accurate and organised client files and legal records - Monitor assigned deadlines and assist with compliance with procedural requirements - Perform legal and administrative tasks associated with active matters - Work closely with senior practitioners and associates and respond constructively to professional guidance - Develop practical knowledge of Namibian legal procedures, professional practice and client service - Maintain strict confidentiality regarding client and firm information - Demonstrate professional conduct and comply with applicable ethical requirements - Participate actively in professional learning and practical legal development - Support the legal team with additional research, drafting and case-management activities where required Required Competencies: - Strong interest in developing a professional career in legal practice - Good legal research and analytical skills - Good written communication and legal drafting potential - Ability to understand and apply legal principles - Strong attention to detail and accuracy - Good organisational and time-management skills - Ability to follow professional instructions and learn from supervision and feedback - Good interpersonal and communication skills - Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and collaboratively within a legal team - High standards of integrity, confidentiality and professional ethics - Commitment to continuous learning and professional development The position offers practical exposure to law-firm operations and professional legal work while allowing the successful candidate to develop research, drafting, client-service, litigation-support and case-management skills under the guidance of experienced legal practitioners.
