Welwitchia University is inviting applications for a Full-Time Lecturer position within the School of Law at its Windhoek Campus. The position is focused on teaching and learning, academic research, research publications, student development and community engagement within the University's legal education programmes. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality university-level legal education and support the academic development of law students through teaching, research supervision and mentorship. The Lecturer will also participate in curriculum development, quality assurance, academic programme review and research activities while maintaining professional and ethical standards expected within higher education and the legal profession. Primary Responsibilities: - Deliver high-quality teaching and learning within the School of Law. - Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials and other academic learning activities in relevant areas of law. - Develop appropriate teaching materials and support effective student learning. - Participate in assessment activities, including preparing, administering and evaluating student academic work. - Supervise student research and provide effective academic mentorship. - Guide students in legal research, academic writing and development of analytical legal skills. - Conduct scholarly legal research and contribute to research publications. - Participate in research projects and other scholarly activities relevant to contemporary legal issues. - Contribute to curriculum development and improvement of law programmes. - Participate in academic programme reviews and institutional quality-assurance processes. - Use information and communication technologies effectively to support teaching, learning, research and academic administration. - Maintain appropriate academic records and fulfil relevant administrative responsibilities. - Participate in School of Law meetings, academic activities and institutional initiatives. - Contribute to community-engagement activities associated with the University's academic mission. - Remain informed about contemporary legal developments, legal education practices and relevant changes affecting the profession. - Maintain ethical conduct, professionalism and commitment to continuous professional development. - Contribute to a supportive academic environment that encourages student achievement, critical thinking and professional development. Minimum Requirements and Qualifications: - Master of Laws (LLM) degree from a recognised and accredited institution within a Roman-Dutch common-law jurisdiction at NQF Level 9. - Bachelor of Laws Honours (LLB) degree from a recognised and accredited institution at NQF Level 8. - At least two years of teaching experience together with three years of research or legal-practice experience. - A Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education will be an added advantage. - A Doctor of Laws (LLD) or PhD in Law from a recognised and accredited institution will be an added advantage. Required Competencies: - Ability to supervise student research and provide effective academic mentorship. - Proficiency in information and communication technologies used for teaching, learning, research and administration. - Strong knowledge of legal research methodologies and academic legal writing. - Ability to contribute meaningfully to curriculum development, quality assurance and academic programme review. - Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary legal issues and legal-education practices. - Strong teaching, presentation and interpersonal communication skills. - Commitment to ethical conduct, professionalism and continuous professional development. - Ability to work effectively with students, academics and other university stakeholders.
