Civil Engineer

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Civil Engineer to oversee the planning, design, and construction management of key infrastructure projects in Namibia. In this role, you will design and supervise the development of essential structures, including roads, water supply networks, structural foundations, and municipal infrastructure.You must ensure that all engineering designs and construction works strictly comply with Namibian engineering codes, statutory regulations, and environmental guidelines. Key Responsibilities: Engineering Design: Develop detailed technical designs, drawings, and specifications for civil infrastructure using industry software. Project Management: Oversee projects from initial feasibility studies through to execution, handover, and the defects liability period. Site Supervision: Conduct regular site inspections to ensure construction work matches approved engineering designs and quality standards. Tender & Procurement: Prepare tender documentation, technical specifications, and accurate engineering cost estimates. Contract Administration: Manage contract compliance utilizing standard formats popular in Namibia, including FIDIC, GCC, and NEC contract templates. Stakeholder Liaison: Coordinate directly with local municipalities, government ministries (such as the Ministry of Works and Transport), and environmental authorities. Quality & Safety: Monitor material testing results (such as soil and concrete compaction tests) to maintain rigorous structural integrity. Required Qualifications & ExperienceEducation: Bachelor’s Degree (B.Eng / B.Sc / B.Tech) in Civil Engineering from a recognized, accredited tertiary institution.Registration: Must be registered, or explicitly eligible for immediate registration, as a Professional Engineer or Incorporated Engineer with the Engineering Council of Namibia (ECN). Affiliation: Membership with the Namibian Society of Engineers (NASE) or the Association of Consulting Engineers of Namibia (ACEN) is highly advantageous. Experience: Minimum of 4–6 years of postgraduate experience in civil infrastructure design and on-site project supervision. Key Skills & Competencies: Software Proficiency: Mastery of engineering design and drafting software, specifically AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Model Maker, or Prokon. Local Knowledge: Solid understanding of the Namibian Public Procurement Act, SANS/SABITA design standards, and local environmental clearance processes. Problem Solving: Strong analytical capabilities to resolve complex design challenges and managing unforeseen site conditions. Communication: Excellent technical report writing skills and the ability to lead diverse multi-disciplinary construction teams. Driver's License: Valid Namibian driver’s license (Code BE / Code 08), with a willingness to travel to remote regional project sites across Namibia.
