Finance/HR Officer

Star for Life (SFL), a non-profit organization focused on empowering young people through education and life skills programmes, is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Finance/HR Officer to join its Namibia team. The successful candidate will support finance and HR operations, ensuring compliance, accurate financial management, payroll processing, reconciliations, and administrative support in line with organizational policies and legal requirements. About the Organization: Star for Life operates in high schools across South Africa, Tanzania, and Namibia, helping learners build self-esteem, resilience, and a positive outlook on life through educational programmes. Key Responsibilities: * Manage bookkeeping, payroll processing, reconciliations, and statutory compliance * Process supplier payments, payroll transactions, and cash flow management * Maintain accurate financial data on accounting systems * Prepare management accounts, donor reports, budgets, and financial reports * Ensure invoice accuracy, payroll validation, and transaction authorization * Support audits and maintain proper financial documentation * Monitor debtors, creditors, petty cash, and staff advances * Assist with budgeting, financial planning, and process improvements * Maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and suppliers Minimum Qualifications & Experience: * Degree or Diploma in Finance or Accounting * Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Finance/HR Officer role, preferably within an NGO * Proficiency in Pastel Accounting * Strong understanding of financial reporting and payroll administration Skills & Competencies: * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * High attention to detail and confidentiality * Ability to work independently and within a team * Strong organizational and administrative skills * Excellent written and spoken English * Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency * Experience working with young people is advantageous
