Shapumba & Associates Incorporated is recruiting an Associate to join its legal team in Windhoek, Namibia. The position is suited to a qualified legal professional who can manage client matters, conduct legal research, prepare legal documentation and contribute to litigation, advisory and general legal-services work within a professional law-firm environment. The Associate will work on a range of legal matters while supporting clients through professional legal research, drafting, consultation, case preparation and representation. The successful candidate should demonstrate strong knowledge of legal principles, excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage legal assignments and deadlines effectively. Key Responsibilities: - Manage assigned legal matters and client instructions under appropriate professional supervision - Conduct legal research involving legislation, case law, regulations and relevant legal authorities - Analyse legal issues and provide well-reasoned recommendations - Draft legal correspondence, opinions, pleadings, agreements, contracts and other legal documents - Assist with preparation and management of litigation and dispute-resolution matters - Prepare case files, supporting documentation and legal arguments - Attend client consultations and gather relevant information and instructions - Maintain regular professional communication with clients regarding legal matters - Assist with court, tribunal or other legal proceedings where required - Monitor legal deadlines, procedural requirements and case developments - Review contracts and other documents to identify legal and regulatory considerations - Maintain accurate, complete and confidential client files - Work collaboratively with senior associates, candidate legal practitioners and other members of the legal team - Support effective delivery of professional legal services and high standards of client care - Maintain current knowledge of relevant developments in Namibian law and legal practice - Comply with applicable professional, ethical and confidentiality requirements - Contribute to the firm's professional reputation and client relationships Required Competencies: - Strong legal research and analytical skills - Good legal drafting and professional writing ability - Understanding of litigation, legal procedure and client advisory work - Strong written and verbal communication skills - Ability to manage legal files, assignments and deadlines - Good organisational and problem-solving skills - Strong attention to detail and accuracy - Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with senior legal professionals - Professional client-service orientation - High integrity, confidentiality and ethical standards This opportunity provides an environment for an ambitious legal professional to strengthen practical legal expertise while contributing to a growing professional law practice.
